A survivor of the Gallipoli Campaign, Captain Margetts was killed in the Somme at Pozieres on 24 July 1916. Bean's official history of the 1st World War volume 12 contains a photograph of Margetts' grave. The caption reads, "231 Results of the Bombardment of Pozieres. The Village as it was some months after the battle. The view is from the southern side of the main road looking southwards, east of the "Copse". The grave is that of Captain I S Margetts, 12th Battalion." The diary kept by Captain Margetts is a feature of the Australian Government's ANZAC site at http://www.anzacsite.gov.au/
