Ivor Margetts was from Wynyard Tasmania and served with the 12th Battalion AIF where he was one of the first to land at Gallipoli. He survived the Gallipoli campaign only to be killed at Pozieres on 24 July 1916. Ivor's great aunt was Anne Frances Margetts who married George Blackwell making Ivor my 2nd cousin three time removed.

Margetts' grave was marked with a simple wooden cross but was lost during a subsequent German counter attack. It features on the cover of Les Carlyon's book The Great War.

There is a photograph of the grave taken some time after the one shown above but before the grave was lost. It features a more elaborate cross with Capt Ivor's brother Athelstone looking down on it. I believe the photograph is in the possession of the Margetts family.
